LEHNBERG keeps exploring the outer boundaries inside of the electronic music. Less than a month ago the ambient mini-album ’Morgondröm’ was released on cassette. Now on ’Lone Wolfing’ LEHNBERG tightens his grip around his highly energetic and expressive live shows, translates it his own way and delivers some high octane dance music where the primal rhythms of techno meets the rawness of punk.

The new 4 track EP ’Lone Wolfing’ has a nerve and an urgency to it that can be traced back to David Lehnberg’s roots. His wayward musical expression is slightly tilted, yet again, and he keeps coming up with new angles and challenges towards his own art.

”I felt that I wanted to make something that was more raw, direct and not very polished at all. I wanted to draw my inspiration from my live shows, the equipment I use and try capture that feeling and translate it onto the tracks.”.

The work process for ’Lone Wolfing’ has been both new and reminiscent to how David worked with his music in the past.
”After working with a theatrical score for half a year, with mostly calm piano based melodic music, I was longing for doing something loud. I went on an inspiration trip to Bali, Indonesia, where I both played and listened to a lot of their polyrhythmic traditional Balinese folk music, which almost sounds like trippy drum n’ bass, (but without bass). That led me into a new way of thinking about rhythms and melodies, and again, I had a new starting point for my new material”

When David talks about the new EP, it’s clear that he wants his punk roots to translate into his otherworldly techno electronica rather than what otherwise always is very characteristic for LEHNBERGs work, the melodies.

”I have a love hate relation with melodies, and on this one, I actively tried to limit the melodics and direct the focus towards the raw primal energy and feel of punk & techno, and what makes the two expressions work together and form something new.”

David has multiple cross linked thoughts about the name ’Lone wolfing’ but keeps returning to one in particular;

”It’s said that the strongest wolf in the pack at some point in it’s life leaves the pack to go out gathering new experiences outside of the comfort zone of the group, only to later return with newfound wisdom and strength, and is simply called ”Lone Wolfing”.
